Good news followed by Bad news. Why?

OK, I don't typically like to focus on the bad things but I have to wonder about the universe sometimes.

I had awesome news the other day about my truck and the starter not being bad but literally the same day.  That evening in fact, the fuel pump dies in Jennifer's Yukon.  On top of that, the mechanic says this is the most expensive fuel pump he's ever had to replace.  That hardly seems fair.  However, I still consider it a good thing that it failed here in town instead of in Springerville or in Payson or Prescott or on the highway somewhere in the middle of nowhere.  I'm very thankful that it did it locally and that our mechanic could start working on it right away.  I'm very glad we have alternate vehicles that we both can use while it's being worked on and I'm thankful that we're able to get it fixed right away through financial means.

So actually, I feel much better now after writing this little blog entry and I really don't have all that much to complain about.  How about that?  Take that Universe!  :P

Awesome news about my truck!

I got some great news yesterday even though I was thoroughly embarrassed.  My truck died last Thursday, just wouldn't start at all.  No clicks or anything.  Saturday I tackled it and took the battery in to be tested.  That appeared to be OK when the fine folks down at the auto store tested it.  So I tried jumping it without even using my battery to verify, no start.  I reworked the Negative battery connector because it appeared a possibility due to the fact that it fell out of the connector when I unhooked it from the battery.  That didn't help either.  So I was going to pull the starter and have it tested but that was a huge pain in the ass so I wasn't able to get it out.  I gave up to having a mechanic fix it after that so I borrowed a friends truck for until I could get mine fixed.

Monday I called a couple places and got a rough idea what it was going to cost me (about $300).  Jennifer though had me call a guy that always does her vehicle so I called him up, he gave me a lower price and when he came over to the house yesterday afternoon to tow me back to his shop he wanted to try a couple things to double check.  Tried jumping, no go.

So anybody wanna guess what the problem was?  I'll tell you it wasn't the starter.

It was my shifter.  It wasn't quite in the right position to disable the safety switch in there so it could start.  Yeah, that's what I thought.  All that fuss and all I'd have had to do was wiggle the shifter and try again.  Wow was I embarrassed.

How To Make Microsoft Office 2007 Look Like Office 2003 | MakeUseOf.com

UBitMenu is a small add-in for Microsoft Office 2007 (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and it brings back Office2007 back into your grasp by giving the menu - the Office2003 makeover. It gets added on as an additional menu tab in the three Office 2007 applications.

Cool stuff. I will have to mention this to the boss and see if we want to test this and possibly implement so we can upgrade users.
